A committee, known as the MIO Formation Committee, has been set up by Te Runanga o Raukawa Incorporated and other interested parties to develop a mandated iwi organisation for Raukawa ki te Tonga. The committee held a consultation hui at Wehi Wehi Marae on 4th July to present a draft constitutional document and to receive feedback on the Draft Trust Deed. At that hui a request was made for workshops to provide an opportunity for discussion, consultation and feedback.

These hui will be held as follows:

The history of Te Rūnanga O Raukawa stems from the Raukawa Marae Trustees (1936) who were legislated to look after the development of the marae matua of Ngāti Raukawa but over time became involved in a broad range of issues that were Iwi wide by nature.  This led to the development of Te Kömiti Whakatinana (1985), which was to later become known as Te Rūnanga O Raukawa (1988).  Te Rūnanga o Raukawa Inc is a properly registered organisation, incorporated under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908.

Te Rūnanga Whāiti, the governing body of the organisation consists of 96 members. The 24 hapū of Ngāti Raukawa elect from their membership a total of 4 hapū members each to serve as members of the organisation. Each hapū select one of the four members to represent their interests at the table of Te Rūnanga Whāiti (the Governance Board).

Te Rūnanga O Raukawa Inc have been offering health, social service and education initiatives since its inception, all of which the iwi believe are critical components that contribute to the well being of their whānau, hapū, iwi and others who reside within the tribal boundary.

All services are offered within the Ngāti Raukawa tribal boundaries defined as

"Mai i Waitapu ki Rangataua, mai i Miria te Kakara ki Kukutauaki"

Te Rūnanga O Raukawa strongly advocates for service provision that focuses on the needs of the individual within the whanau/family and wider social structure, as well as looking for creative solutions within an appropriate cultural context to some of the issues that family/whānau are currently faced with.
